good time at the Up from the River Festival

The Kent Stage February 27th

The Kent Stage February 27th

The Up from the River Festival was last night in Kent and was a lot of fun. The band (which were the Heartichokes last night..it might stick) and I played among some great Kent and Akron musicians. Rebekah Jean, In a Circle, May Andrews, Tom Evanchuck and Shivering Timbers.

Thanks to Tom Simpson, Adreanne Zeleny for having us and putting such a great show together!

Today I am listening to nothing but Irish music..probably till Friday. Walter and I will be playing St Pet’s Day at the Canton Palace Theatre. We’ll be playing some great Irish tunes. Come out, bring canned pet food for admission. More info on the event here.

Pittburgh, Oberlin, Kent

Hi friends,

Thursday night I sang at 222 Ormbsby in Pittsburgh. It is a house converted into an art space. They invite artists (mostly musicians, I believe) to share their expressions for a very interested, friendly, creative audience. It was a great experience.

I sang a few songs totally unplugged with the audience. They were all really nice and responsive to my songs. Thanks again for having me, Max at 222 Ormsby.

Here are some pictures from the night (February 18th):

house shows

Dear friends,

I just recently joined Concerts in your Home. It’s a website designed to help artists play intimate, really cool shows for music lovers and for music lovers to find really great music to fill their home and entertain friends.

I love House Concerts and hope this website introduces me to new friends, homes and states..

If you want to host me in your home (and legitimately have the means to, have hosted before, love music, etc) please email me!

Facebook

Hello.

If we are not yet..please be my friend on facebook. There is something quite sad and defeating..asking for friends. But alas, I could (who couldn’t) always use some more.

Please add me. Then tell your friends. Have them tell their friends..so on and so forth..

Hope you are well! pass it along.

The Hideout turnout

Hi friends,

Last Friday was such a success! The show was sold out at the Hideout in Chicago. What a great night of music.

My band unfortunately did not make the show. They were stuck in snow in Ohio. I was pretty bummed they could not make the trip..and it would have been that much better! but still a super fun night! Thanks to all the people who came out..familiar and some new friends I made!

I’ll put some pictures up soon. The only one I personally have is after the show, getting ready to trek back downtown (where we were staying with friends).

the hideout -Chicago

It was weird being back in Chicago. In most ways in felt like I never left. I will always hold a special place for that city. Thanks for the warm welcome back..again:)

The next show I will be playing is Bethesda’s (Kent band) CD release show at Musica in Akron, OH on Thursday January 28th at 730pm -tickets are $8 at the door.

See you there! :)

Happy Holidays, updates, next..

Hi friends,

I wanted to wish you a belated Merry Christmas! I hope you had a fun, yet relaxing Holiday.

The last week for me was filled with lots of family, laughs and plenty of food. It was really wonderful to be with everyone I love very dearly.

It’s been awhile since I have written. I apologize, I like to stay relatively current..

In the beginning of the month, I played at my hometown Canton’s First Friday event. My band-mate/violinist Walter and I played at Art Adventures studio amongst some lovely paintings and new, friendly Cantonians. The next night I played at a lovely coffee shop in Berlin, Ohio/Amish Country. The place was Java Jo’s. It was a small yet nice and personable crowd, including my Dad, Mom and Grandma. A great time overall.

first friday

On December 16th, I went up to Cleveland and played a songwriting circle with a friend of mine, Chris Castle. He and I, along with Nate Jones (of Cleveland now living in New Orleans) and Tom Evanchuck (of Chardin,Oh) played our songs, shared experiences and really enjoyed each others creations. Each of us very different. It was a lovely night.

Next up is Chicago! I haven’t been back since I left the end of April of this year. My band and I will be playing the Hideout with two Chicago, fantastic bands, Grammar and Horse in the Sea. I can’t wait! I hope for a good turnout! The show is Friday January 8th at 930pm. Tickets are $8. For more information, check it out!

hideout show

I’ll also be playing a solo set at a familiar place for me, Uncommon Ground on Clark St. I played there several times while living in the city. That show is Saturday January 9th. My set is 1045pm-1105pm. I’ll be solo.

Then January 28th, I’ll be returning to Musica in Akron, opening for fellow Kent band, Bethesda. They will be releasing their first full-length cd.

Happy New Year!

See you soon!

Songwriter’s Round

Hi friends,

Tonight I’ll be in Cleveland at the Beachland Ballroom. I’ll be joining fellow songwriters, Chris Castle, Tom Evanchuck and Nate Jones in a night of sharing our original tunes. I love these kind of things, It brings it home again (for me) on why again I write and continue to write songs.

Show starts at 8pm in the Beachland (Tavern side)

15711 Waterloo Rd, Cleveland, Ohio

Hope this finds you warm and well!

Ashley
